You have two options. You MAY be able to lock the car using the passenger door.Unlock the other doors. Get out with the car running. Open the Passenger Door and press the lock button. This should lock all of the doors. The only caveat with this one is that the key may not unlock the doors wirelessly. You may need to pop the cover off and unlock it manually using the lock cylinder.Option two is to find out why the remote start wont work.Is the check engine light on? If so, No Remote Start. Is the fuel level in the Reserve (red) section of the fuel guage? If so, No Remote Start. Is the Adblue light on?
Aug 29, 2018 I suspect its a coding issue, since the LED module swap was pretty straightforward. The highbeams, lowbeams, and DRLs seem to be functioning just fine, so I think its the parking lights that are malfunctioning. Anyone have an idea of how to troubleshoot this with VCDS?
If so, No Remote Start. If none of these scenarios exist, then maybe you are not pressing the buttons in sequence fast enough.Lock, Start, Start. All within a few seconds. There’s a option with VCDS that will allow you to lock your door using a remote if the car is running. I’m assuming with Kessy that you’d have to leave a key in the car, and lock it with the other remote.I don’t personally have any experience with kessey, but I can lock my 15 Passat using the remote while the car is running. I’ll bring both keys if it’s stupid cold, leave one in the ignition, and then lock with the other fob when I’m outside the car.
I had to code the car to make it work this way.I’ll do a little digging and see if I can find what you have to code. I remember that it was in the long coding and not an adaptation, and think it was 09 or 46 but can’t say for sure. Here’s similar info on an mk6 Golf.

When we bought the car new, I got two different colored silicone 'condoms' to put over the key fobs to tell mine from my wife's. Well, turns out that with those two buttons in the middle, I wasn't getting a good enough 'double-click' through the 'condom.' Took it off, did the 'close-press-press' sequence pretty fast, and it started right up.Thanks for the tip.
Yes, I have the problem on both sides and the trunk. VCDS scan shows all antennas are functional.I would change one of the batteries in the key fob and see if that clears it up. In one of the tech references, it says the battery voltage must be 3.0 volts or greater when doing any testing. In the Electrical Equipment manual it states that the proximity sensor in the doors & trunk are activated when touched. It then speaks to the ID sensor in the key fob.
If valid, doors or trunk unlock immediately.Since VCDS came up clean, I would try the battery.Hope this helps.Dan. I would change one of the batteries in the key fob and see if that clears it up. What's the most frustrating is that the problem I've described is intermittent and doesn't repeat itself when in front of a tech.
Reviving an older thread, but I experienced this issue as well. Noticed that the touch to lock and grab to unlock was getting erratic in operation. Checked VCDS - no codes, all OK. Finally grabbed the other fob from the hook and used it for a couple days - no issues whatsoever. So I pulled and checked the battery voltage in the problematic fob - was 2.88 VDC. Put in a new battery - no more issues.
I too, thought that the battery wasn't an issue for kessy entry/exit, but a strong battery is imperative. I just had the same problem, and am past my warranty.

Called the dealer and they said there was an unofficial software update to resolve this issue although it had yet to be released 'officially' by vw. Dealer said they had received the update since this is a common issue and would update my software if I wanted even though it hasn't been 'officially' released. Took about 20 minutes and works great now.and they didn't charge me.Update - Since I posted this it has now been working intermintently. I jinxed myself.will be calling the dealer in the next day or two.
